Workshop: IEEE Standards Association - Ethically Aligned Design: From Principles to Practice
he IEEE Standards Association has been focused on "Ethically Aligned Design" through its Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems. The session will cover the key focus areas of this initiative which has also spurred several significant standards working groups branded as the IEEE 7000 series of standards and the ECPAIS certification program. This workshop will highlight these key focus areas which include ethical concerns during the system design, the data privacy process, and data governance process.
As an interactive portion of this workshop, moderators from IEEE-SA will highlight the Pillars and Principles of Ethically Aligned Design to ask how FabLab participants would move these ideals "from Principles to Practice." The goal of this group discussion will be to analyze how participants interpret these Pillars and Principles based on their background, expertise, and cultural values and how they'd recommend moving forward in a peaceful and pragmatic way for their global implementation.
IEEE-SA Introduction / Overview:
1) IEEE-SA initiative on Ethics Certification-- EADUC - Ethically Aligned Design University Curriculum-- Engaging with IEEE Community
2) Introduction to the IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems Introduction to Ethically Aligned Design
3) Interactive portion of Workshop to discuss Pillars and Principles of Ethically Aligned Design
4) No pre-work required. This will be a discussion to get feedback on these parts of EAD.
5)Goal beyond getting insights is to develop Egypt / Africa / FabLab interest in working on EAD2e.
